Romantic Couple Photography on Film
It blows my mind that these photographs were taken 12 years ago!
Back in my days as a wedding photographer I used to offer my clients engagement sessions so they could practice being in front of the camera and we could get to know each other a little before their big day.
I was spending a great deal of time in London in those days and a lot of my clients were there too. So we’d meet in their neighbourhood and take some photographs to mark that chapter in their story when they were footloose and fancy-free, embracing the city lifestyle.
I’d blog the a few images from their photography session and (as if by SEO magic!) other couples would find me when they were looking for their own romantic photoshoot in London.
Angelina and Reyno were one such couple, having travelled over to London on vacation from their home in Indonesia.
Newly engaged, they were at the start of their big life together. This trip to London was a big adventure and this sweet, loved up couple visited the city at just the right moment. I remember it looked completely lovely in the late Spring sunshine.
They wandered hand in hand as I captured the moment for them on beautiful medium format film…
AND because this couple photo session was shot exclusively on film, these photographs look as fresh as the day I shared them with Angelina & Reyno.
Sure my posing approach has evolved and there are a few photographs I’d approach differently now with another decade + of experience under my belt, but on the whole when I look back at these portraits I smile!
These photographs haven’t fallen victim to a particular editing trend which dates them c. 2013.
They’re classic.
I posted a preview of these couple portraits on instagram last week and Angelina got in touch to say they plan to return to London next summer and would love to schedule another photography session with their two children.
I almost cried. I’d love to see them again and it means A LOT that this sweet couple from Jakarta would invite me to capture their family 12 years after their engagement session.
If you’re hopelessly in love and planning a visit to London with your person, then why not take an hour out of your trip to have a professional photographer capture the moment on film?
Sound good to you? Let’s bank some memories!
