Newborn Photography on Film in Didsbury

I remember the days felt SO long during the first few weeks after each of my daughters was born.

As new parents we “get by” in a state of sleep-deprived overwhelm, as we recalibrate and adjust our lives around this brand new, beautiful and ever so tiny human. But those groundhog days of feeding, winding, changing and napping also fly by too quickly. Before you know it your baby is smiling up at you, rolling over for the first time, sitting up, stacking blocks, crawling, walking, talking and then running into the school gates!!

Our children are only newborns for such a short window of time and frustratingly we’re often too exhausted to fully appreciate it. That’s where professional photographs come in.

This is a short and sweet newborn portrait session I photographed in Disbury, Manchester all the way back in 2018. I was reminded about it as I recently took a series of Christmas photographs of this adorable baby girl, her parents AND her little brother! If you follow me on instagram you may have clocked a few of those pictures on my feed. And it just goes to show how quickly our children grow up, because honestly this sweet newborn mini-session feels like only yesterday to me.

I’ll never tire of capturing portraits of brand new humans like this beautiful baby girl. They are so sleepy, so helpless and so in need of loving care with their floppy little bodies; their tiny toes, the little dimples on their knuckles and their big inquisitive eyes. It’s an era in their lives they’ll have no memory of themselves and so to be asked to create a collection of honest and natural portraits on film for them to look back on in years to come is a wonderful privilege.
